Upon reflection, pop star, SZA, thinks the lyrics of her hit single Kill Bill were a little “over the top” though she may have sought to introduce some humor in her composition.
Parts of the soulful rhythm have the singer talking about “killing” her ex-boyfriend in addition to other laughable expressions.
A section of the somewhat heartbreak song says: “…Hate to see you happy if I’m not the one driving…I just want you; if I can’t have you, no one should. I might kill my ex…Not the best idea…His girlfriend is next.”
Though SZA says the lyrics must not be taken literally, she admitted the part about “murdering” her ex-boyfriend was harsh.
“Oh my God, after I said that, I was like, that was so crazy and harsh…I was just randomly slightly enraged,” she said in an interview last Friday.

The Grammy winner also talked about the part of the song that said “Rather be in jail than alone,” and explained that the fact that she sang those lyrics does not mean it’s true. Certainly, she will not prefer prison time to being alone.
The Snooze singer also answered questions about her love life, saying falling in love comes to her “easily” but she is somewhat unable to sustain relationships.
“It’s tragic…I don’t even know if I’m meant to fall in love; cause who’s actually doing it and sustaining it? I think we’re just supposed to be in fleeting states of loving…I can catch them, but I cannot keep them,” she stated.
Asked whether she would ever run for President, she declared: “Absolutely not… I want nothing to do with politics and I just want to be left alone.”
SZA and country music legend, Shania Twain, and a host of other artistes recently entertained guests at the Glastonbury music festival in England.
In April this year, she was named Best International Act at the Brit Awards, after she was awarded in selected categories at the 2024 Grammys.
