Kendrick Lamar Releases Much-Anticipated Visuals For Luther Hit With SZA

Kendrick Lamar and his music pal, SZA, have released the music video for their much-acclaimed Luther collaboration.

The project, directed by Karena Evans, has generated some nine million views since it premiered barely three days ago. It has been described by some analysts as “a celebration of Black love in its coolest form.”

Fans have been looking forward to the music video for Luther, a single from Kendrick’s GNX album, which arrived in November last year.

The rendition rose to No. 3 on the Billboard charts but quickly reached No. 1 on the chart after Kendrick and SZA performed together at the Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Both artistes, according to sources, are preparing for their Grand National Tour on April 19 in Minneapolis. As their first stadium tour, they are expected to visit 39 cities in North America and Europe.

Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us was crowned Apple Music of the year 2024, when the company released its end-of-year chart last December.

The widely streamed hit song, emerged from the lyrical salvo between Kendrick and Drake, last year. The song became Kendrick Lamar’s fourth No. 1 song, and went ahead to break the Spotify record as the most streamed hip-hop song in one day.

Kendrick Lamar grabbed eight of eleven nominations at the BET Hip-Hop Awards, taking home accolades for Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Music Video of the Year, Lyricist of the Year, and others.

At the Super Bowl Halftime Show, he was joined by the SZA, Serena Williams and Samuel L. Jackson as he performed songs form his repertoire, including Not Like Us.

He recruited some 500 people to play various roles during the performance. Before performing the popular diss song at the show, he also teased Drake for suing Universal Music Group for promoting the song. Kendrick’s Super Bowl performance followed his impressive record at the 67th Grammys. He won five awards at the prestigious event, including Record Of The Year and Song Of The Year for Not Like Us.
