American artiste, Kendrick Lamar, known for his unique blend of artistry, social commentary, and provocation, has generated cultural impact, commercial success, and institutional recognition.

News broke on Monday that he has signed on as a brand ambassador for Chanel, and he appeared alongside other star ambassadors, including actresses Lupita Nyong’o, Margaret Qualley, and Nana Komatsu, in the French fashion house’s new eyewear campaign that rolled out Tuesday, April 22, and was photographed by Karim Sadli.

Just like his fellows in the music industry, Kendrick Lamar has a bit of an exciting history with Chanel.

According to a statement, Chanel is said to have opined that the project exemplifies a generation of courageous artistry and marks a bold new momentum for the brand.

For the artiste, the brand believes he is a performer at the top of his game.

At the 2023 Met Gala, when the event’s theme celebrated the life of late fashion designer and former Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld, Kendrick Lamar wore a custom quilted leather bomber jacket by the then-former creative director Virginie Viard.

This isn’t the first time Kendrick has collaborated with Chanel.

In the January 2024 Chanel haute couture show, he and his creative partner, Dave Free, designed the set.

The pgLang dynamic duo also directed the accompanying short film, The Button, which stars Naomi Campbell and Margaret Qualley.

Kendrick Lamar has had a busy year, and this latest fashion venture of Kendrick comes after he parlayed his beef with Drake into five Grammys, a historic Super Bowl Halftime Show, breaking Hot 100 and 200 records, and the Grand National Tour, which kicked off on Saturday night at Minneapolis’ U.S. Bank Stadium.
