Few years ago, Kelly Rowland dressed up as Summer and it sparked debate about the striking resemblance of the duo. As a result, fans couldn’t help but demand that the singer play the late disco queen in a biopic.
Rowland wore a white bodysuit paired with a fluffy white coat, one of the Last Dance singer’s many signature styles.
Fans took to social media to voice their opinions about Rowland’s portrayal of Summer when the discussion about the legendary singer becoming the subject of a biography started making rounds.
A fan wrote on Rowland’s Instagram at the time: “You would be perfect for the role if Donna Summer had a movie.”

Brooklyn Sudano, Donna Summer’s daughter, and Oscar and Emmy-winning director Roger Ross Williams are behind the camera for this documentary.
On February 17, 2023, the documentary Love to Love You, Donna Summer, made its global premiere at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival.
It was then aired on May 20 at 8 p.m. on HBO. The project received a nomination for Best Music Documentary at the 8th Critics’ Choice Documentary Awards.

Brooklyn Sudano, Summer’s daughter, says that it appears the much-anticipated project might just go as planned.
However, it’s unknown as of yet whether they concur with fans who have been urging the Destiny’s Child singer to assume the job for the past few years.
Speaking to People earlier this week, Sudano disclosed that she and Rowland are close and that they have discussed the possibility.
However, Sudano maintains that such a project—as well as the decisions that would follow it—takes time.
“Kelly and I are friends, so of course we have spoken about it,” Brooklyn said. “I love Kelly. She is the best. So talented, so beautiful.
She later added:
“These things take such a long time, and so it was really important to me and my family to get the document out there, which we did. So there’s lots of conversation, and we’ll see what the future holds. I can’t say too much now.”
