Celebrated pop singer, Katy Perry, has previewed some songs from her upcoming album, telling her fans to look out for “a lot of music” in the future.
The Roar hitmaker shared the title and cover art of the new album 143 on her timeline early this week. Currently available for pre-order, the album will be released on September 20 this year.
Details of the new project come after the release of her lead single on the album Woman’s World, which announced her return to the music business.
Songs on the new compilation include I’m His, He’s Mine, Gimme Gimme (featuring) 21 Savage, and another titled Nirvana. Sources close to the singer say the album will be released during her gig at the “Rock In Rio” Festival in Brazil, later in the year.
“I will be in Brazil playing Rock in Rio and I just figured that all of my Brazilian fans are going to be singing at the top of their lungs, the album will come out that day and I will be playing that night…I’m going to put out a lot of music before then because I think that’s what you want,” Katy said.
The award-winning performer started teasing the new album in May by changing her profile picture. The music video for Woman’s World will be released on Friday, July 12. In December last year, Katy said she was preparing her “most personal” project yet in 2024.
Smile was Kate Perry’s sixth studio album released in August 2020, which she described as her “journey towards the light, with stories of resilience, hope, and love”. Music critics, at the time, thought the project was one of Perry’s “solid efforts.”
Commercially, Smile reached the top five in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States, and the top 10 in Austria, Ireland, and Italy.
Kate Perry is rated as one of the best-selling musicians of all time. She is believed to have sold over 143 million records worldwide with her major studio albums individually exceeding one billion streams on Spotify.
She has nine U.S. number-one singles, three U.S. number-one albums, and the second-most U.S. diamond-certified singles for any female artist.
