Kanye West’s X Account Deactivated Following Days Of ‘Wild’ Posts

BY Edwin Lamptey February 12, 2025 8:12 AM EDT

Fresh details coming in suggest that Kanye West’s account on X has been deactivated.

His followers observed that in the last days of the use of his account, the musician and producer spent time sharing everything and anything on his mind.

From calling out industry figures who turned their backs on him, attacking white people and Jews, labeling himself as a Nazi, and calling for the freedom of jailed rapper Diddy, he let it all out without caring about any consequences.

On Sunday, February 9, 2025, he was very active on X, talking about the game and trolling his longtime enemy, Taylor Swift. One of his posts was also slapped with a “potentially sensitive content” warning message. Elon Musk later confirmed, “Given what he has posted, his account is now classified as NSFW [not safe for work]. You should not be seeing that anymore.”

Before exiting X, West, 47, shared one last message:

“I’m logging out of Twitter. I appreciate Elon for allowing me to vent. It has been very cathartic to use the world as a sounding board.”

At this time, it is unclear if West deleted the account himself or if he was removed from the social media network.

Although no official statement has been made regarding the deactivation, it’s clear that Kanye’s latest posts stirred a lot of controversy. Over the past week, he went on an unfiltered rant that targeted multiple communities and individuals.

His comments about Jewish people and his self-identification as a Nazi sparked major backlash. Several media outlets, fans, and celebrities called for action against him, with some arguing that X should not be a platform for hate speech. Others, however, defended his right to free speech.

Elon Musk, the owner of X, has maintained a “free speech” stance but also emphasized that certain content guidelines must be followed. It appears that Ye’s posts finally crossed the line, leading to the classification of his account as NSFW and its subsequent deactivation.

Kanye West’s X account deactivation marks another chapter in his ongoing social media drama.
