The ongoing saga between Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, and his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian, took a dramatic turn last week when Ye reportedly sent a cease-and-desist letter to Kardashian, accusing her of violating his parental rights.

The letter, which surfaced on May 9, sparked widespread attention before being debunked as a hoax, leaving questions about the couple’s co-parenting struggles and the authenticity of the claims.

According to initial reports from TMZ, Ye’s attorney, Kathy Johnson, allegedly sent the letter to Kardashian’s lawyer, Laura Wasser, on May 8.

The document claimed that Kardashian breached their 2022 divorce settlement by undermining Ye’s rights as a co-parent to their four children: North, 11; Saint, 9; Chicago, 7; and Psalm, 5.

Ye reportedly accused Kardashian of leaving North unattended in a car during the 2025 Met Gala on May 5, exposing her to excessive media attention. He also alleged that Kardashian ignored his objections to North’s TikTok presence, claiming she was exploiting their daughter for “personal or commercial gain.”

Additionally, Ye asserted he had been denied “meaningful access” to his children, specifically stating he hadn’t seen Saint in 2025—a claim disproven by photos of Ye with Saint, Chicago, and Psalm in Japan in January.

The letter demanded that Kardashian stop posting the children on social media, refrain from bringing North to public events without Ye’s consent, and ensure Ye’s “unimpeded access” to the kids.

Ye’s frustration echoed sentiments he’s shared on X, where he has vented about co-parenting challenges for weeks, including claims of restricted access to his children.

However, the story took a sharp turn when TMZ retracted its initial report on May 9, revealing the letter as a hoax. Investigations uncovered red flags: the supposed law firm, JB Law Firm in Palma, Spain, couldn’t be verified, and a similar firm in the Canary Islands had a non-functional website and phone number. Moreover, Johnson’s authority to practice law in California, where custody disputes would be handled, was questionable.

The letter also bizarrely claimed to represent Ye’s current wife, Bianca Censori, who has no legal standing in the custody arrangement, further signaling its fraudulent nature. A spokesperson for Ye confirmed to Page Six, “The letter is quite obviously fraudulent. TMZ fell for a hoax.”

Kardashian has not publicly addressed the letter, though sources close to her told TMZ that Ye has made little effort to see the children this year, and she has never denied him access when requested. The incident reignites a long-standing tension between the former couple, who finalized their divorce in 2022 after a seven-year marriage.

Kardashian has previously defended North’s social media activity, stating in 2022 that it allows her daughter to express creativity under supervision, despite Ye’s objections. Ye, meanwhile, has been vocal about his desire for more control over his children’s public exposure, a stance that contrasts with Kardashian’s media-heavy lifestyle.

The hoax letter, while fake, reflects real underlying issues in their co-parenting dynamic. Ye’s recent behavior—including controversial rants on X and a new song where he rapped that his custody battle “made him a Nazi”—suggests deep frustration.

Kardashian, on the other hand, continues to prioritize her public image, often featuring her children in social media content, such as North’s appearance at the Met Gala. The episode underscores the challenges of co-parenting in the spotlight, where personal disputes quickly become cultural flashpoints, amplified by media scrutiny and, in this case, fabricated legal drama.
