Rapper and tycoon Kanye West is being sued for allegedly inciting a hostile work environment, not paying his YZY staff, and sending explicit material to them while his wife was working there.
Kanye West and Milo Yiannopoulos, his former chief of staff, were identified as defendants in the dispute in the court filings. However, despite the charges, Censori was not named as a defendant in the court of law.
The entire incident started in April 2024 when Ye prepared to launch his own adult entertainment company, YZY Porn, and a music streaming service, YZYVSN.
A team of Black foreign developers, including some minors, were employed by Yiannopoulos and West to build on the apps.
Censori celebrated their entry into the adult entertainment lane by sending extreme pornographic movies to the crew via a file-sharing link, leaving them unable to stop themselves from engaging with the material.
According to the lawsuit, West never paid his workers for the work they did on the YZY Porn or YZYVSN applications, and they were subjected to “forced labor and cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment.”
Reiterating the allegations that Ye and Milo created a hostile work environment, the lawsuit says that the men appointed white supervisors to handle their primarily Black employees. Milo reportedly called one of the workers a “school shooter.” It is said that these white employers made fun of the workers by giving them job names like “New Slaves.”
If the developers accepted the insane working circumstances and didn’t report what they saw at YZY, Yiannopoulos is alleged to have tried to pay them $120,000. This type of strategy was nothing new to West; in addition, the artist was alleged to have attempted to get the staff members to sign NDAs to keep them silent.
The complaint claims that during all of this commotion, the development team completed one version of YZYVSN and sent it to Ye. But Ye is said to have failed to compensate the laborers for their work.
