Chicago rapper Kanye West has taken more shots at J. Cole while discussing his recent apology to Kendrick Lamar.
In a recent appearance on The Download podcast with Justin Laboy, Kanye West criticized J. Cole for backing down in his rap battle with Kendrick Lamar.
West referenced J. Cole and Drake’s co-headlining Big As the What? Tour, suggesting that J. Cole is aware of the industry dynamics.
However, Kanye West dismissed the idea when asked about possibly having a truce with J. Cole, stating that the words ‘up’ and ‘Cole’ cannot be used in the same sentence.
The conversation then shifted to apologising in rap ‘beefs’. West expressed his uncertainty about the industry’s acceptance of apologies.
He also mentioned that he doesn’t listen to J. Cole’s music but had heard about his song False Prophets, released in 2016 and seemingly took shots at West.
West also recently dissed J. Cole on his remix of Future and Metro Boomin’s Like That. The song was released in support of Kendrick Lamar’s feud with Drake. West assured Lamar of his support in the song.
Kanye West joins other critics of J. Cole’s apology
However, West is not the first rap figure to criticize J. Cole for apologizing to Kendrick Lamar.
After catching wind of his olive branch, 50 Cent expressed his confusion on Instagram. Dame Dash also expressed his disappointment, suggesting that J. Cole’s apology was a sign of surrender.
