Rapper Jeezy may face jail time after a judge ruled he failed to meet part of his divorce settlement with ex-wife Jeannie Mai.
According to In Touch Weekly, Jeezy appeared in court on Monday, April 28. The judge said he had not handed over the title of a 2021 Range Rover to Mai, as required in their divorce agreement. The judge also denied Jeezy’s attempt to make Mai pay $20,000 in legal fees.
The judge warned that if Jeezy continues to disobey the court’s orders, he could be punished with jail time. This warning adds more tension to the long and bitter divorce, which has involved serious accusations from both sides.
Jeezy and Mai finalized their divorce in mid-2024. But months later, Mai accused Jeezy of breaking several parts of their deal.
She said he failed to pay child care costs, did not deposit $500,000 in a trust account for their daughter, and refused to transfer the titles of two cars. She also claimed he had not covered four months of rent.
Jeezy pushed back, saying he couldn’t confirm if the lease details she gave were real. He also blamed delays on the DMV and said one of the cars was damaged by a natural disaster.
He accused Mai of leaking details to the press to damage his reputation.
This week’s court appearance was mainly about legal costs, as other parts of the dispute have reportedly been resolved. However, the judge sided with Mai and refused Jeezy’s request to be reimbursed for defending himself.
Outside of his divorce, Jeezy is also facing a legal battle with his former manager. Solomon Fornie has filed a countersuit, claiming he helped save Jeezy’s career and financial life but was never paid fairly.
He said he used his own money and credit to help Jeezy and even borrowed $400,000 to keep the rapper’s business running.
