The iconic NYC 40/40 Club, owned by Jay-Z, has been reborn. The club debuted a new location at Fanatics Fest in New York City but it’s rumored that Jay-Z and his team plan to open a permanent facility in the upcoming year.
“It’s always been the plan to open a new spot,” 40/40 Club vice president of operations, Sheldon Robinson told Us Weekly.
He continued that it takes time to identify the ideal site that complements the brand.
“We are currently in the bargaining stage after narrowing it down to our final few options. Hopefully by the end of this year we’ll have a lease signed and we can break ground,” Robinson went on. We intend to establish a club by 2025.
After 20 years of existence, the club—which had its original location in Manhattan—closed in August 2023.

Robinson stated, “Jay definitely wants to keep it as part of his legacy,” indicating that the rapper has been “very involved” with the undertaking.
Robinson disclosed that Jay-Z has “been at site locations and in meetings” as the future plan is being developed.
Robinson praised Jay-Z as “one of the smartest people I’ve ever worked for” and expressed amazement at his ability to consistently realize his commercial concepts.
“It just goes to show that you can achieve your goals and dreams when you set your mind to them, whether it’s a young business owner or just those who work with him. He is a living example of that,” Robinson added.
The 40/40 Club reopened on Friday, August 16, at the Javits Center, and the nostalgic redesign of the venue will take place in conjunction with Fanatics Sportsbook at Fanatics Fest NYC.
Stadium seating, framed jerseys from the club archive, huge chandeliers, and high-end drink and food selections modeled after the 40/40 Club menu are just a few of the space’s prominent features.
An invite-only list of well-known athletes, celebrities, and Fanatics Sportsbook VIP customers attended the lounge’s reopening event at the Fanatics Fest.
Ben Stiller, Derek Jeter, Jalen Brunson, Kevin Garnett, Mike Tyson, Quavo, Rob Gronkowski, Spike Lee, Tom Brady, Vic Mensa, and of course, Jay-Z and his wife Queen Bee were among the attendees.
“Being able to throw some gas on the flames and spark it back up is something we’re excited to do,” said the vice president of operations at 40/40 Club, implying that it will be like “walking back in time.”
“It will feel like a revitalized version of the club when you walk in. Identical texture and similar feel. Observing the cool jerseys strolling down our second-floor Hall of Fame wall. Observing the tower of champagne above the main bar and the enormous screens. We’ll have every detail that members of the previous club became accustomed to”.
