JAY-Z’s Roc Nation has its departments, and its social justice side, dubbed ‘Team ROC,’ is set to dive into the world of podcasts.

Roc Nation’s Team ROC is launching a true crime podcast as a step in the mission to bring justice and transparency to the Kansas City criminal justice system.

The true-crime podcast will be known as Corruption Uncovered, and it will be hosted by journalist Josie Duffy Rice.

The first season will focus on alleged misconduct, including longstanding accusations of corruption in the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department (KCKPD), with a particular emphasis on the federal case against former detective Roger Golubski.

A police detective who was charged with extorting and having carnal knowledge ofth Black women and teenagers was due to stand trial on Monday, December 1, but was found dead in an apparent suicide on the eve of his trial.

The case, however, has now been dismissed by a judge, but Team Roc believes the documents could expose decades of abuse by members of the KCKPD.

Team ROC’s Managing Director, Dania Diaz said:

“There is a need for powerful and comprehensive storytelling in the criminal justice sector so that the voices of those who have been silenced are heard.”

The podcast will include interviews with survivors, impacted families, community members, attorneys, and national and local activists.

Team Roc shared a trailer for the podcast on Monday, including snippets of interviews with Golubski’s alleged victims.

“I said, ‘I’m gonna call the police,’” recalled one woman who claimed Golubski r*ped her repeatedly.

“He said, ‘I am the police.’”

The post caption read, “Will the U.S. v. Roger Golubski have the answers? What does justice look like after decades of corruption in law enforcement? Tune in to Corruption Uncovered, our new true crime podcast exposing corruption within the Kansas City, Kansas, police department.”

JAY-Z together with Team Roc, in partnership with the Midwest Innocence Project, sued Kansas City a month ago.

The filed lawsuit is seeking the release of police misconduct records, accusing city officials of blocking access to key documents.

The Corruption Uncovered podcast will debut on December 6.
