Reports emerged this week that Janet Jackson had issued an apology for comments she made against Vice President Kamala Harris, suggesting the presidential aspirant “is not black.”

It has, however, emerged that the release containing the supposed statement was unauthorized. Sources close to the singer have said the statement was issued by someone purporting to be her manager.

The statement, as reported by some outlets, was attributed to a person believed to be Ms Jackson’s representative. A rebuttal to the release indicates that the so-called spokesperson is an Egyptian filmmaker, who has now been dismissed by Ms Jackson.

Janet Jackson fired me due to disagreements between me, her, and Randy after she met with the Guardian and her unbalanced statements,” the man linked to Ms. Jackson reportedly told some outlets in a mail.

When asked for further comments, he said: “That’s all I can say,” and that he could not “receive phone calls due to the large number of calls.”

Other reports indicate that Jackson’s actual management team had been led by her brother, Randy Jackson, for many years, but the siblings were mourning the recent passing of their brother, Tito, therefore, they were unavailable to make comments on what Ms. Jackson supposedly said about Ms. Harris.

It was reported on Monday that Janet Jackson issued an apology after she was heavily criticized on social media for spreading misinformation about Vice President and Presidential Candidate, Kamala Harris.

The celebrated performer reportedly granted an interview recently to promote her first European tour since 2011 and repeated some false claims Republican Party supporters had made about Ms. Harris and her father.

Speaking to the Guardian, she reportedly insisted that Ms. Harris is “not black” and has a “white father”—a claim that had been proven as false.

“…Her father’s white. That’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days. I was told that they discovered her father was white.” She was quoted saying.

“…I don’t know. Honestly, I don’t want to answer that because I, truthfully, don’t know. I think either way it goes is going to be mayhem” she stated about the upcoming US election.

With the singer’s apology now turned down as unauthentic, followers will be hoping to see what follows in the days ahead.
