To mark 20 years of his music career, British singer-songwriter James Blunt will repackage and release his debut album, Back to Bedlam produced in 2004.
The You’re Beautiful hitmaker hopes the album will make a similar impact as it made during its hay days. The album, scheduled to arrive on October 11, 2024, will also feature some unreleased singles recorded back in the day, sources close to the singer have said.
In a video message on his X(Twitter) handle on Wednesday, May 22, award-winning James Blunt also announced his Back to Bedlam Tour in the United Kingdom (UK) and Europe, which will come off later in February 2025.
Back to Bedlam album has songs like High, Wisemen, You’re Beautiful, Goodbye My Lover, and No Bravery. The new edition will include all these titles, and new ones such as Standing All Alone, Close Your Eyes, Butterfly, Dancing Days, and Sugar Coated.
“I’ve released seven studio albums, but Back To Bedlam was the one people actually bought. So on its 20th anniversary, the record label and I thought we should repackage it with some early demos, and milk it for all it’s worth…It was one of the biggest-selling albums of the 2000s, so here’s hoping it makes a dent in the ’20s,” Blunt reportedly said about the album.
The music sales figure for the exceptional composer is pegged at 20 million since his debut in 2004. In 2023, he released the seventh studio album, titled Who We Used To Be.
The rest of his albums include All the Lost Souls (2007) which reportedly reached number one in twelve countries. Some Kind of Trouble (2010), Moon Landing (2013), The Afterlove (2017), and Once Upon a Mind (2019) also followed in that order.
James Blunt is credited with several awards, including two Brit Awards (Best British Male in 2006); two MTV Video Music Awards, two Ivor Novello Awards, and five Grammy Award nominations.
Awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Music in 2016 from the University of Bristol, he served in the British Army for six years before delving into his music career.
Back to Bedlam is rated one of the best-selling albums of the 2000s in the UK. Hit single You’re Beautiful off his maiden album reportedly reached number one in thirteen countries, including the UK and the United States (US.)
