Jaden Smith’s explanation of his ‘weird’ behavior over the years has confused his fans and gotten social media reactions.
Jaden Smith has opened up about ‘trying to fit in’ but appearing ‘weird’ and what he’s realized in the process.
The 26-year-old son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith has had to grow up while also navigating life in the spotlight, so it’s no wonder normality may be a bit of a strange concept to him.
Jaden’s explanation comes just days after his interview with Complex.
In the interview, which seems more weird than his tweets, Jaden Smith responded to several of the interviewer’s questions with quotes from Twilight.
During the interview, reporter Eric Skelton asked Jaden why it was “important” to him to be “weird,” while referring to a previous tweet in which Jaden wrote, “Actively working on being more weird.”
He responded. Because I went through a lot of my life trying to be normal.”
He said, “It was a really big deal for me for a long time that people thought that I was normal.
And that bothered me after a while. I started to feel like people didn’t really understand me or see me, and I wasn’t really trying to show anybody that.”
On Saturday (October 19), Jaden Smith took to X, formally known as Twitter, to post his thoughts.
In a post, he wrote:
“All The Weird S**t You’ve Ever Seen Me Do Was Me Thinking I Was Totally Normal, So Now Sometimes I Try To Act Weird On Purpose So Yall Think It’s On Purpose,
“But At The End Of The Day I’ve Been Trying To Fit In This Whole Time, And I Guess It’s Not Exactly Going To Plan.”
