It is commonplace to see siblings striving for success in the fields they feel comfortable in and have managed to gain a lot of experience in that particular profession. Siblings, more often than not, would rather take different career paths.

However, there are some siblings who have taken up the same career path and blazed the trail for their younger family members to emulate or take a cue from. There are many such ‘power siblings’ in various fields and professions.

Notable among these siblings are the famous WWE brothers, Kane and The Undertaker; Ghanaian footballing duo, Andre and Jordan Ayew; and when it comes to music, we have twin brothers, Peter and Paul Okoye who formed P-Square.

Speaking about music and narrowing it down to Afrobeats – Africa’s newest and arguably most popular sound and style – there are many names that have held the torch and made the genre an explosive one. Some of these torchbearers include Davido, Burna Boy, Teni, and Olamide, to mention but a few.

Interestingly, these stars also have siblings in the same business and today, we throw the spotlight on the Afrobeats stars who happen to be siblings.

Don Jazzy and D’Prince

Blood brothers Michael and Charles Ajere known professionally as Don Jazzy and D’Prince respectively, are a force to reckon with when it comes to the family business of music and in the industry as a whole. They have worked with some of the most successful artistes to come out of Nigeria and are now making waves globally.

2Baba and Hi Idibia

Legendary Nigerian ‘lover boy-themed’ musician Innocent Idibia known in the world of music as 2Baba (formerly 2Face) did not leave his sibling behind in the career path he had taken. He was joined by the highly talented Hyacinth Idibia who is also making waves as an Afrobeats star. The duo have worked closely and even have a song together. 2Baba’s sister is known by the stage name, Hi Idibia.

Burna Boy and Nissi

Multiple award-winning Nigerian Afrobeats star, Burna Boy, born Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu MFR, is one of the biggest Afrobeats stars currently. He performs at sold-out concerts and rakes in millions through music streams. The Last Last hitmaker is not the last person in his family to do music as his younger sister, Nissi (Nissi Ogulu), is also an Afrobeats artiste working wonders on her own. The siblings are managed by their mother.

D’Banj and KaySwitch

One of Nigeria’s most influential artistes, D’Banj, known formally as Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo is brothers with Kehinde Oladotun Oyebanjo known on stage as KaySwitch. This duo is stuck together like glue as the latter is signed to the former’s record label known as DB Records.

Olamide and DJ Enimoney

Show-stopping brothers and entertainers, Olamide and Eniola Adedeji (DJ Enimoney) also work in what many can consider a family record label, YBNL Records. Olamide is known as the face of the record label while his brother, Eniola, is the record label’s official disc jockey. They also have songs together.

Teni and Niniola

Teniola and Niniola Apata are two sisters who can be recognized as one of the most famous siblings ever to come out of Nigeria. Almost a decade ago, Niniola, the older of the two, took the world by storm after shining bright at a reality show (Project Fame). Teni, on the other hand, got her first taste of stardom when she dropped her 2018 hit song, Case, and has been on the rise since.
