Female rapper Ice Spice appears to be making inroads in Hollywood, as she has yet to feature in renowned black movie producer Spike Lee‘s next film with the lead character Denzel Washington.

The award-winning rapper will feature in Lee’s next English-language adaptation of High and Low, an Akira Kurosawa criminal thriller based on Evan Hunter’s (Ed McBain) 1959 novel King’s Ransom. Isis Gaston, also known as Ice Spice, is said to have started filming sequences for the next movie.

The movie follows an executive whose son is mistakenly kidnapped, leading to an extortion plot. It is currently unclear if Spike Lee plans to stick to the source material or give the story a bit of a twist.

The film is Lee and Washington’s fifth collaboration, following Mo’ Better Blues (1990), Malcolm X (1992), He Got Game (1998) and Inside Man (2006).

High And Low is being developed and produced by A24, Escape Artists, and Mandalay Pictures, and was written by Lee and Alan Fox.

It can be recalled that Cardi B and Ice Spice publicly declared that there was no bad blood between them.

When the 24-year-old Munch rapper shared pictures of them from the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscars party in March, the hip-hop artists successfully put an end to any suspicions that they would be at odds. The Whipshots creator, 31, is seen in the photos giving a peace sign while Ice leans in and makes a kissing face.

“De lo mio,” the younger musician captioned the post. Then Cardi B retweeted the pictures, adding three heart emojis.

The conversation started after influencer Raymonte Cole and the WAP singer got into a heated disagreement on public perception, colourism, and ancestry.

“No offense bardi its cus i have a Dominican parent & a Black one. My father is Dominican…I’m Dominican just like you. I also used other Dominicans as an example because as you should know a lot of times we get clustered into one because of the language. Also can you send me that pic you took of me wit ya camera from vanity fair? Thank youuu,” Ice Spice responded.
