Ice Cube has once again sparked excitement among fans, sharing new details about the long-awaited next installment of the Friday movie franchise.

During a recent appearance on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast with Gillie Da Kid and Wallo, the legendary rapper and actor confirmed that the highly anticipated sequel is in the works.

He hinted at a return to the beloved comedy’s roots, promising to deliver a film that fans will connect with on multiple levels.

According to the No Vaseline crooner, the upcoming Friday movie will introduce new characters while bringing back some fan favorites. He aims to recapture the magic that made the original film a cultural phenomenon while updating it for today’s audience.

Ice Cube’s announcement follows his ongoing efforts to get approval from Warner Bros. to move forward with another sequel. In recent interviews, Cube mentioned that the studio’s leadership changes have finally paved the way for progress.

He expressed relief that Warner Bros., under the direction of Mike DeLuca, is now on board. DeLuca previously worked with Cube on earlier projects like the first Friday film and The Players Club.

Despite the exciting news, Cube acknowledged the delays caused by the tragic losses of key cast members, including John Witherspoon, Tiny Lister, and A.J. Johnson. He lamented the studio’s hesitation, stating that these setbacks have been frustrating, but he remains committed to honoring the legacy of those involved by making the film right.

This isn’t Ice Cube’s first attempt to revive the Friday franchise. In previous years, he shared that Warner Bros. had rejected two scripts due to disagreements over the film’s direction. The studio reportedly didn’t approve of certain plotlines, such as characters being jailed for selling weed before legalization.
