Kanye West was the center of a tense exchange during a deposition as part of a lawsuit against him by the technology company MyChannel.
The footage, set to appear on A&E’s Interrogation Raw: Celebrity Under Oath, reveals a Zoom meeting in which the rapper butted heads with one of the attorneys present, Michael Popok.
The incident, during a 2021 deposition, shows Kanye initially refusing to engage with the camera, further complicating the process. When Popok asked West if he was using his phone, the rapper confirmed that he was but quickly grew defensive when urged to stop.
Kanye West claimed that his need to use the phone was tied to his focus, referring to his “mental geniusness” as the reason he could not engage in the deposition without it.
The situation escalated when Kanye’s attorney, Ekwan Rhowe, stepped in at Popok’s request, and the rapper reluctantly agreed to stop using his phone. However, West then put on a mask that obscured his face entirely, declaring that Popok had no right to see him.
The conflict intensified when Popok inquired about Kanye’s location. West, clearly irritated, refused to reveal the room he was in, growing angrier as the exchange continued. The rapper shot back at questions about the items in the room, expressing frustration with what he deemed irrelevant inquiries, emphasizing his wealth and status instead.

The lawsuit, initially filed by MyChannel in 2020, accused West of stealing technology that had been developed by the company for his Sunday Service shows after promising them a $10 million investment. The company also alleged that they had contributed over $7 million to Kanye’s Yeezy brand and invested 10,000 man hours into the project.
