British singer, songwriter, and pianist Elton John, born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, has opened up about his well-being, touching on the fact that he has issues with his eyesight.
Elton John became Sir Elton Hercules John when he received a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II for contributions to music and charity.
The iconic musician is a well-known figure when it comes to the LGBT community in the entertainment industry.
He has been married to husband David Furnish for 11 years now and has two sons, Zachary and Elijah.
According to various news outlets, Sir Elton John has said he can’t see his sons playing rugby after an infection last summer left him struggling with his eyesight.
The 78-year-old legend revealed when he told his fans about the infection in September when the singer wrote on Instagram that a “severe” infection had left him with “only limited vision” in one eye, adding that his recovery would “take time”.
He went on to state in a recent interview with The Times that “It has been a very stressful time because I’m used to soaking it all up. It’s distressing.”
The songwriter said he “can’t see the telly,” adding, “I haven’t been able to see anything since last July.”
He admitted to getting “emotional” about his sight loss.
“But you have to get used to it, because I’m lucky to have the life I have. I still have my wonderful family, and I can still see something out of here,” he said, pointing at his left eye. “So you say to yourself, just get on with it.“
Sir Elton previously said he’d been unable to finish his new album due to his eyesight issues.
In November, the legendary musician noted: “It’s been a while since he did anything.”
