Drake began October by going on an Instagram unfollowing spree, unfollowing longtime friend LeBron James and others.

James and Drake have been good friends for a long time and are frequently spotted supporting one another in public.

Some fans believe that the Los Angeles Lakers star attending Kendrick Lamar’s star-studded Juneteenth concert during the summer is the basis for the unfollow.

James was having fun in the crowd while the rapper from Compton performed a few of his hit songs.

Considering that Lamar and Drake have been embroiled in a rap war, this move by James would not go down well with the Canadian music icon.

James further fueled the flames by openly praising Kendrick Lamar’s diss hit, Not Like Us, which was directed at Drake.

This endorsement may have led to Drake’s decision to unfollow James, suggesting a potential fallout.

The God’s Plan hitmaker then seemingly went on an unfollowing spree following this move.

Aside from James, he also unfollowed DeRozan, Rick Ross, Joe Budden, Kendrick Lamar, Playboi Carti, and more.

While it’s unclear what prompted the move, several fans believe the unfollowing seemingly stemmed from his rap battle with Kendrick Lamar.

DeRozan took the stage alongside Lamar and other stars when he performed his No. 1 Drake diss, Not Like Us.

Some fans, however, conjecture that Drake’s recent industry contacts and potential distance from certain people are the reasons behind this widespread unfollowing.

Fans noted Drake was still following Diddy at the time of Page Six’s unfollowing revelation, and he unfollowed the scandalized music tycoon soon after their story was published.
