Camila Cabello’s forthcoming album, C,XOXO, features two exciting cameos from Drake. The pop singer recently revealed to Billboard how she secured the rap icon’s participation through a series of daring Instagram direct messages.
Cabello, known for her hit I LUV IT, detailed her collaboration with Drake during an interview published on Wednesday, May 29.
Contrary to rumors, their jet ski outing in Turks and Caicos was part of a recording session, not a romantic escapade. Cabello described Drake as the greatest of all time and admitted that reaching out to him felt like aiming for the stars.
After gaining confidence, she messaged him on Instagram and shared her album with him. Drake was impressed and suggested a song titled “Hot Uptown,” which instantly resonated with Cabello, evoking memories of Miami.
The song was completed in Turks and Caicos, where Drake also contributed to an interlude called “Uuugly,” showcasing his signature crooning over synths.
Cabello explained that Drake wanted to add one more element to the album, resulting in his solo interlude. She expressed delight at having Drake on her album, describing it as a rebellious move that perfectly fit her vision.
The collaboration first caught public attention in December when paparazzi spotted Cabello and Drake together. However, their meetings were purely professional and focused on creating new music for Cabello’s project.
Footage shared by Pop Crave showed the duo enjoying their time at Noah’s Ark Beach Club, a favorite Caribbean spot of Drake’s. The clips featured them riding jet skis, chatting, and laughing on a boat, all part of their collaborative efforts.
Drake reportedly began following Cabello on social media in the spring after she posted a mirror selfie with a caption quoting his song “Search & Rescue.” This interaction sparked curiosity among fans.
