In his ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar, Canadian rapper Drake has been accused of several wrongdoings.
Most recently, the internet was filled with allegations that Drake had assaulted Christopher Alvarez, a journalist living with Thanatophoric Dysplasia, at a New York City hotel in 2023.
The rumors were fueled by an X user named EbonyPrince2K24, who shared a screenshot of security footage allegedly featuring Drake and Alvarez. The rumour monger hinted at a nasty incident and referenced items allegedly belonging to Drake that appeared on the cover art for Kendrick’s diss song Meet the Grahams.
Despite the cryptic warnings and the release of a short snippet of the security footage, no physical confrontation was evident in the video. This led to skepticism among fans and raised questions about the authenticity of the claims.
Drake defended by his alleged victim
In a recent development, Alvarez himself has spoken out against the rumors, denying any assault by the rapper. He confirmed that he was with Drake on the night of January 22, 2023, after a concert in NYC, but refuted all accusations of wrongdoing.
Alvarez also addressed rumors of him being a ‘snitch’ in the Drake and Kendrick feud, stating that he is a hard-working journalist who holds elected officials and private entities accountable and not a mole in the rap world.
The spread of unsubstantiated claims in Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s feud has been widely criticized. Even Akademiks, a vocal supporter of Drake, slammed the false accusations, suggesting that the items on the Meet the Grahams cover looked stolen.
The wild allegations relating to pedophilia, domestic abuse, and infidelity have also been criticized by Charlamagne Tha God, who expressed his disapproval of such heavy accusations being thrown around in a rap feud.
