A new documentary highlighting the life of English singer and Pianist, Elton John, will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival which comes off in September this year.
The production titled Elton John: Never Too Late, according to producers, will capture the musician’s journey during his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, which began in 2018 and ended in Stockholm, Sweden in July 2023.
The Farewell Yellow Brick Road musical tour is rated as the first-ever concert tour to earn over $ 900 million in gross ticket sales.
Apart from focusing on his life, the documentary is also expected to capture concert footage of the singer over the past 50 years, as well as “hand-written journals and present-day footage of him and his family”.
Some of the footage will include that of his final US performance during the Farewell Tour at the Dodger Stadium in November 2022.
The film is jointly directed by R.J. Cutler and David Furnish and will air on Disney+ at a later date after the Toronto Film Festival. Sources say the Sacrifice composer will release his 32nd studio album soon.
“Fifty years of pure joy playing music…how lucky am I? You bought the singles, the CDs, the albums, the cassettes… and more importantly, you bought the tickets to the shows. You know how much I love to play live. It’s been my lifeblood to play for you guys. You’ve been absolutely magnificent,” Elton John reportedly told the crowd during his final performance in Stockholm, Sweden.
