Three years have passed since DMX’s untimely demise. A titan in the Hip-Hop community, his influence and memory continue to resonate undiminished by the passage of time.
Tuesday, April 9, 2023, marked the third anniversary of the Ruff Ryders rapper’s departure from this world.
In a heartfelt tribute, the Ruff Ryders, DMX’s crew, visited his final resting place in Oakland Cemetery, Yonkers, a day before the anniversary. The gravesite was a scene of reverence, filled with motorbikes and buggies, a testament to the late MC’s impact.
A member of the crew, capturing the moment on his smartphone, declared: “Got the whole pack out here, ya heard? Rest in peace, DMX.”
The visit prompted reflections on the multi-talented entertainer’s unique music industry position and authenticity.
“Let’s give it to X because he stayed true to himself and he never sold out. He kept it real till the casket dropped. You don’t get real cats like that, that represent from the beginning to the end,” one atendee reacted.
Who was DMX?
DMX, whose real name was Earl Simmons, tragically passed away in April 2021 from a cocaine-induced heart attack.
After a reported drug overdose, he was rushed to a hospital in White Plains, New York, where he was briefly placed on life support.
Seven days later, he succumbed to his condition. During DMX’s memorial service at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Swizz Beatz expressed regret that people hadn’t shown DMX more support.
DMX’s 7-year-old son pays tribute to him
Meanwhile, DMX would have celebrated his birthday on December 18 if he were still alive and his son paid him a tribute.
On what would have been DMX’s 53rd birthday, the late rapper’s seven-year-old son Exodus posted a heartwarming piano tribute to his father.
In a video shared by the late rapper’s fiancée Desiree Lindstrom, Exodus was seen playing his piano rendition of his dad’s smash hit X Gon’ Give It To Ya.
“Happy Birthday Earl! Thinking of you always, but especially today. You was New York!!! Exodus tribute to you! (X gonna give it to ya) We love you baby! #ForeverX,” she wrote in the caption
