DJ Vlad Apologises To Marlon Wayans Following Heated Social Media Banter: “My Bad Marlon”

BY Dora Abena Dzaka August 31, 2024 7:11 AM EDT

Following a heated argument on X, DJ Vlad, the host of the well-liked VladTV platform, publicly apologized to actor and comedian Marlon Wayans.

After an unsuccessful attempt to negotiate an interview, the two became enraged, with DJ Vlad originally accusing Wayans of being disrespectful and irritated, especially on the terms of payment.

Vlad told Aries Spears that Wayans had asked for $40,000 in exchange for an interview, as well as 30% of any future profits from the show—amounts Vlad thought were out of line.

A joke online indicated that Wayans ought to have asked for even more money, which further inflamed the situation.

Wayans responded humorously, while Vlad fired back, calling Wayans “delusional” and ridiculing his demands.

In response, Wayans took to X, calling out Vlad’s unprofessionalism. “You mad? You are unprofessional, my guy.”

Wayans wrote: “If you don’t like the number, keep it moving. You look bad. You should fall back. Mad at a black man stating his number? And now you go public and use your platform to try to drag me.”

When Vlad voiced his complaints in an interview with DJ Akademiks, claiming that their argument was the result of a commercial disagreement, the tension became obvious.

Despite the contentious exchange, Vlad appears ready to move on from the event and even collaborate with Wayans in the future, based on his subsequent apology.

Vlad mentioned that: “To be honest, it was just business negotiation in the end,” he remarked. “I could have kept it confidential.I overdid it. I do actually respect [him]. That was the reason I approached [him] in the first place.”

Vlad’s change of heart included shooting his shot to possibly work with Wayans in the future.

He claimed to feel belittled by Wayans’ apparent greater regard for Big Boy and Charlamagne Tha God, but he stepped up to show his appreciation and take responsibility for his errors.

“My bad Marlon, I apologize. It’s all good. I think most people just want to respect each other, and I think it could have been handled a little differently.”
