Diplo has responded to allegations made against him regarding the distribution of pornographic images of a lady who had an intimate relationship.
He took to his official Instagram account posting pictures of himself and asking the public not to “believe” the news.
“Don’t believe what you read in the news. I don’t own a 100 million dollar mansion, I didn’t pay 450k euros to rave in Ibiza and I didn’t send dirty snapchats in 2017…Let’s talk about how lucky I am to party with you guys and how good the raves are here in Europe…(Athens Croatia Prague done…Paris next)” he wrote.
It unclear if Diplo has also officially responded to the suit in court beyond the post made on his Instagram account.
The lawsuit was reportedly filed Thursday, June 27, 2024, in a California federal court. Sources close to the suit say a female complainant claimed she began communicating with Diplo, on Snapchat, in April 2016 when she was 21 years old.
It said between April 2016 and June 2016, Diplo, born Thomas Wesley Pentz, “maintained continuous contact with the Plaintiff, exchanging pornographic images with her.”
The complainant and Diplo reportedly met in person for the first time in June 2016 and established “an intimate relationship” that lasted until October 2023. But the complainant said she “never gave consent” for any intimate videos/images should be shared publicly.
Other details of the case suggest that an informant told the Plaintiff that Diplo had sent her “intimate material” via Snapchat in October 2018.
After hearing from the “informant” the female complainant said she reported the music producer to the New York Police Department, and that the police issued a warrant for the musician’s arrest.
Police reportedly confirmed that there was “a criminal complaint on file for unlawful dissemination for a suspect with the name of Thomas Pentz” which was being investigated by NYPD detectives.”
