Rapper Digga D from the UK went on Instagram Live to record the police raiding his home this week.
Armed police officers appeared to force their way into the 23-year-old’s home on the morning of Wednesday, February 21, while he was live-streaming the event for his followers.
“What do you lot want? I’m here! I am here! Stop! What are you lot doing? I am coming! Why are you doing that?,” Digga D said while recording.
He continued, “I am on the floor. What are you doing? Stop, man. I am coming. Why are you doing that?”
An officer could then be heard shouting, “Armed police!” to which Digga D replied, “Yes, I heard you.”
He was then told to “come to the front door with his hands up.”
Digga D, whose real name is Rhys Herbert, has struggled with the law throughout his rapidly rising career. After his popular Next Up? freestyle garnered over 11 million views on YouTube in 2018, the police requested that it be taken down, citing it as a violent incitement.
Despite claims that they were filming a music video, members of his 1011 crew were apprehended with machetes in the same year and found guilty of conspiring to commit violent disorder.
In addition, Digga D was given a criminal behavior order (CBO), which is the contemporary equivalent of an anti-social behavior order (ASBO).
These restrictions included what he could talk about in his lyrics, where he could go, and who he could meet. He also had to turn in his lyrics to the police for review within 24 hours of releasing them in a song.
Digga D has remained a major player in the UK rap scene despite all of this.
2022 saw his mixtape Naughty by Nature debut at No.1 on the UK Albums Chart. He has also worked with American rappers like B-Lovee and Moneybagg Yo.
A representative for the Metropolitan Police confirmed the incident to the media regarding the widely shared live stream footage saying:
“On Wednesday, February 21, officers carried out a warrant at a residential address in Lincolnshire under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act,” the statement read.
“A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned about the supply of drugs. He remains in custody,” the statement continued.
