Attorneys for Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs have alleged that prosecutors presented an altered version of security footage showing him assaulting singer Cassie in a legal bid to prevent his release on bail.
The claim, filed on Thursday, contends that the video shown in court significantly differs from the version leaked earlier by CNN.
Diddy’s legal team maintains that the prosecution’s footage is manipulated, omitting crucial scenes and rearranging events.
To support this claim, they have enlisted a forensic video analyst, who argues that the footage presented in court does not accurately portray the incident. Specifically, the analyst asserts that some segments are missing and the overall depiction is misleading.
One key dispute centers on the claim that Diddy threw a vase at Cassie during the 2016 incident. His lawyers argue that he only threw the flowers from the vase, not the vase itself, a distinction they believe the prosecution intentionally blurred.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office has yet to respond to these allegations. Diddy’s defense team insists that the video does not support claims of sex trafficking or any connection to the alleged ‘freak off’ parties. Instead, they argue that the incident represents a domestic dispute, not a criminal conspiracy.
Diddy has consistently denied the prosecution’s broader claims, though he did publicly acknowledge and apologize for his actions towards Cassie.
Despite admitting his behavior was inexcusable, he emphasized that it was a personal failing rather than evidence of more serious offenses.
