Text messages sent by Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs to his ex-girlfriend Cassie have been unveiled, revealing the desperate state he was in following a brutal assault in 2016.

The texts were disclosed at a bail appeal hearing in New York on September 18, 2024, where Diddy’s request for bail was denied for the second time. He had been recently arrested.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Johnson read out messages Diddy sent after the attack, which took place in a Los Angeles hotel room.

The rap mogul urged Cassie to call him in one message, expressing panic and fear of abandonment. This communication, Johnson argued, highlighted Diddy’s awareness that his actions could attract police intervention.

Cassie, who had previously disclosed severe bruising from the assault, reportedly told the ace rapper that he was not treating her with the respect she deserved as his woman. She emphasized that she was not just a mere object but a person with feelings and dignity.

The hearing also shed light on the circumstances leading up to the assault. Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, suggested that the incident was triggered by Cassie discovering the Bad Boy Records CEO’s infidelity. According to this account, Cassie had accessed Diddy’s phone while he was asleep and reacted by throwing the device at him before leaving the hotel room.

However, this version of events was contested by the prosecution. They argued that Cassie was trying to escape a “freak off” party that Diddy had allegedly organized, and that a male sex worker was present during the altercation.

Initially, the rapper had denied any wrongdoing following Cassie’s lawsuit, which she filed in November 2023. The suit detailed the abuse she endured during their relationship.

Diddy’s stance changed dramatically after surveillance footage of the assault was released, leading him to publicly apologize and seek therapy and rehab.
