Embattled hip-hop rapper and business mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs will be held in police custody officially as he awaits trial.

Diddy reportedly opted to withdraw his request to be released on bail, according to court filings dated December 13, 2024.

“Mr. Combs does not seek to appeal the district court’s denial of his renewed motion and hereby moves to voluntarily dismiss the appeal,” Diddy’s attorneys stated.

The criminal trial for Diddy is scheduled to start in May 2025, and the rapper is being held at Brooklyn, New York’s Metropolitan Detention Center.

Combs’s signature on the document demonstrates that the 55-year-old is well aware of the consequences of rejecting the appeal.

Additionally, he may now have access to a laptop that is loaded with all of the evidence pertaining to his criminal sex trafficking trial at specific hours in a conference room or visiting room, seven days a week.

“The purpose of the Discovery Laptop is to review discovery, not to take or store notes. It is the Court’s understanding that the laptop has been pre-loaded with discovery materials but does not allow any functionality beyond reviewing those materials,” explained Judge Arun Subramanian in the order granting Diddy the needed permission.

Judge Subramanian has repeatedly refused Diddy’s bail, stating that Combs poses a risk to the public if freed and citing “evidence supporting a serious risk of witness tampering.”

Charges against the Grammy winner include transportation to participate in prostitution, sex trafficking by force, deception, or coercion, and racketeering conspiracy. He entered a not-guilty plea to the charges. Combs is facing many civil claims alleging rape, assault, and other violent acts in addition to the criminal charges.
