In the latest twist in the legal saga surrounding Sean “Diddy” Combs, the mogul’s defense team has filed a new letter asserting that the nine videos in question, which the government claims as key evidence against him, actually exonerate him.
The letter, according to USA Today, reveals Diddy’s side of the story, stating that the footage merely shows “private sexual activity between fully consenting adults in a long-term relationship.”
According to Diddy’s lawyers, the videos depict Cassie, referred to as Victim-1, thoroughly enjoying herself and being “evidently happy, dominant, and completely in control” during the encounters.
The defense strongly opposes the prosecution’s characterization of the videos, which they claim are presented as “elaborate and produced sex performances.”
Instead, Diddy’s legal team argues that the tapes simply show consensual sexual activity with no hidden agendas or secrets involved. They refute allegations that the tapes were secretly recorded, insisting that no minors or other celebrities are featured in the videos.
Furthermore, they claim that Cassie kept the tapes and voluntarily handed them over to the authorities, contradicting the prosecution’s assertion that they were seized during federal raids on Diddy’s properties.
Diddy’s defense has emphasized that the tapes directly undermine the government’s case, especially in light of the prosecutors’ assertion that “freak-off activity” is central to the charges against him.
The letter highlights that this new evidence dismantles the core of the prosecution’s argument. Cassie’s attorney has not commented on the matter.
In related legal news, a judge recently ruled against Diddy’s claim that prosecutors were responsible for leaking footage of a 2016 assault incident involving Cassie.
Judge Arun Subramanian rejected the motion, stating that the government did not leak the video, further dismissing Diddy’s arguments as speculative.
