Cynthia Erivo joins a growing list of stars, including Janelle Monáe, who’ve expressed interest in playing Storm, the iconic weather-controlling mutant from the X-Men franchise.

The Tony-winning actress shared her desire to embody Storm, an iconic character first brought to life on the big screen by Halle Berry in 2000’s X-Men.

The London-born star revealed her intention while attending the National Board of Review Awards Gala in New York City on January 7.

When asked what her “dream role” she’s looking forward to next, Cynthia revealed, “I really want to play Storm.”

The “Wicked” star emphasized that her desire to take on the role goes beyond fanfare or superhero status

“I know it sounds frivolous, but I think we haven’t uncovered how grand she is and all of that inner turmoil she has. So I think there’s a world in which we could do something with that.”

Storm, who first appeared in Marvel Comics in the 1970s, is one of the most revered characters in the X-Men universe. Known for her ability to manipulate weather and her striking white hair.

The character has been portrayed by several powerhouse actresses like Alexandra Shipp, who played a younger version of the character in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse and 2019’s Dark Phoenix.

Susan Dalian and Kirsten Alter have also played the role of Storm.

However, the sensational Halle Berry performance as Storm in the original X-Men movies was iconic and is without a doubt one of the most well-known superhero performances.

Halle Berry famously played the role of Storm in several X-Men films, including X-Men (2000), X2 (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).
