A Michigan man, Corey Harris, was mocked for driving a car during an online court proceeding.

Harris went viral after a video of him caught on camera driving during his May 15 court appearance on Zoom to face charges went viral.

Judge Cedric Simpson appeared perplexed by Corey Harris’ behavior and quickly revoked his bond, which prompted Harris to turn himself in.

However, according to a report from 7 News Detroit, the Saginaw County Friend of the Court, a local government organization, revoked the order to suspend his license back in January 2022 and never sent it to state officials.

Corey Harris’ license was never restored, according to the Michigan secretary of state’s office, which told 7 News Detroit that they never got approval from the Saginaw County Friend of the Court in 2022 either.

According to the article, a search in the Saginaw County court records also revealed that the order suspending Harris’ license was revoked in “less than five minutes” after the traffic offense.

The source was informed by the secretary of state’s office that Harris would have been able to have his driving privileges back after paying a few fines.

It’s therefore unclear why Harris’ case wasn’t settled months ago by his public defender or the Pittsfield Township prosecutor’s office, as 7 News Detroit pointed out.

Harris claimed he was taking his wife to the doctor in 2023 because she needed medical attention, which is what led to the allegations.

The video showed that Corey Harris was appearing virtually in court to contest the misdemeanor case, which stemmed from a traffic stop in Pittsfield Township, just south of Ann Arbor, in October 2023.

Corey Harris’s license getting suspended in 2023 isn’t new, his license was first revoked in 2010 due to a child maintenance dispute.
