Davido is officially married, and the internet is in awe of the timeless and extravagant traditional wedding.
On Tuesday, Nigerian megastar and Grammy-nominee David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and his longtime partner, Chioma Rowland, also known as Chefchi, married, sparking three days of social media buzz and trending globally via the #Chivido2024 hashtag.
The lovebirds held their star-studded traditional marriage and church ceremony at Harbour Point in the Victoria Island area of Lagos, Nigeria, representing the apex of years of friendship.
On Tuesday, June 25th, 2024, the couple married, one year after the birth of their twins and two years after the sad loss of their 3-year-old son, David Ifeyani Adeleke, who drowned accidentally.
On Sunday, the 30 BG boss shared a series of pre-wedding images with his fiancee wearing various ensembles, tagged with the wedding hashtag “#CHIVIDO2024”.
Their relationship became official in 2018 when the singer announced it at a public event in October.
The chef has appeared in several of the singer’s music videos, and rumors of breakups have circulated throughout the years.
A year later, the singer acknowledged the connection; images of the introduction surfaced on social media, and in September 2019, Davido proposed to her in a secret ceremony.
Their wedding was set to take place in 2020, but it was canceled because of the COVID-19 epidemic.
Star-Studded Wedding Guests
As expected, Davido’s magnificent wedding reception was little more than a gathering of luminaries from many walks of life.
Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, attended the ceremony in his distinctive white attire and beaded crown.
Former Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, his Ogun State counterpart Dapo Abiodun, and Senator Daisy Danjuma of Edo South were among the leaders at the occasion.
The Nigerian president’s son, Seyi Tinubu, also made an appearance. Celebrities including Patoranking, singer Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, and others attended the event, which was hosted by TV anchor Ebuka Uchendu.
