Beyoncé, who is mostly known as the queen of iconic moves and is always setting the standard high has recently dabbled in beauty products under the brand name, Cécred.
It seemed only fitting that Beyoncé would launch her hair care line into the beauty industry, given her illustrious track record. Beyoncé’s ever-evolving fashion and hairstyles have consistently amazed us, from her days in Destiny’s Child to her chart-topping solo albums and acting prowess.
She consistently creates memorable hair moments, whether she’s sporting glitzy updos, Afro curls, or a dramatic short haircut. For this reason, it is appropriate to say Cécred! Pronounced “sacred,” this is Beyoncé’s sincere homage to her heritage, embodying her journey and sense of style.
Beyoncé formally unveiled her hair care brand, Cécred (pronounced like “sacred”), on February 6, 2024. Instagram users were treated to a teaser video featuring Headliners, a hair salon in Houston that looks like former mom Tina Knowles’s salon, alongside various women getting their hair washed and styled. Towards the end, there’s a fleeting appearance by Beyoncé.
In a follow-up teaser, Beyoncé addresses rumors by affirming that they are indeed true. “I grew up in my mother’s hair salon,” she says in a voiceover before switching to fan videos and comments.
Cécred’s debut launch product is the Foundation Collection, featuring eight products for cleansing, conditioning, and repairing hair. Among the products are the Moisturizing Deep Conditioner, Hydrating Shampoo, Fermented Rice and Rose Protein Ritual, Moisture Sealing Lotion, Nourishing Hair Oil, Clarifying Shampoo and Scalp Scrub, and Reconstructing Treatment Mask (a new product).
The brand believes its line of beauty items is infused with “patent-pending advanced science” and inspired by “global traditions.” It contains ingredients like butter, oils, honey, and fermented rice water that are meant to nourish hair of all textures and types. According to a press release from the brand, “the debut collection is beneficial for hair textures from straight to coily and hair states—including virgin, color-treated, chemically processed, and heat-styled—that need extra moisture and strength.”
With years of formulation expertise, a team of seasoned experts painstakingly assembled Cécred’s foundation collection, which includes eight essential products. Every product, including the rich hydrating shampoo, the energizing scalp scrub, and the clarifying shampoo, is made to meet different hair needs.
Together with nourishing hair oil, the suite also comes with a moisture-sealing lotion, a luxurious deep conditioner, and a revitalizing fermented rice and rose protein ritual mask. The products have a luxurious feel because of their tactile pebbled texture.
The collection promises a sensorial experience unlike any other since it is infused with Temple Oud, the signature hair fragrance that is known for its luxury and subtlety. The innovative patent-pending bioactive keratin ferment, which is derived from keratin, honey, and lactobacillus ferment, is added to the color-safe formula of the hair mask, allowing it to deeply penetrate and repair hair of all textures.
The Cécred foundation collection can be purchased on cecred.com for as little as $20. Moreover, Cécred intends to assist future cosmetologists by providing grants and scholarships to salon businesses in association with her charitable organization, BeyGOOD, which gives the launch an interesting twist.
