A few days ago, Angel Reese took to Instagram Live and revealed that her WNBA is not enough to even pay her rent – a revelation that most of her followers wondered if it was a joke that she was serious.
One person that seems to be concerned about the situation is Cam’ron.
On the latest episode of It Is What It Is, Cam and co-host Mase reflected on Angel Reese’s video, where she spoke about being unable to pay her bills with the checks she receives from the WNBA and how she relies on other sources of income to support her lifestyle.
Cam’ron insinuated that it was unreal how Reese didn’t know the details of her financial situation, and he hoped she didn’t go broke because of it.
After a round of laughs with the crew, Cam took a more serious tone and advised Reese to pay attention to who’s handling her finances and not screwing her over in the long run.
“All seriousness, Angel Reese, make sure you stay on top of these financial advisors, these accountants, these people taking care of your money because they’ll steal your shit in the middle of the night,” said Cam’ron.
“I’m having fun a little bit, but seriously, you make sure that you stay on top of all that because you’re young, you’re pretty, and you have a lot going on outside of the WNBA.”
He continued, “I’m pretty sure you have a lot of money coming in endorsements. Don’t take it for granted, and don’t sit here and think that it’s going to last forever because you’re still young; you have a lot of time, but make sure you watch your money and the people around you.”
The average pay scale in the WNBA has been a long-standing issue ever since the league was created in the mid-90s.
Angel Reese signed a four-year rookie contract totaling $324,383 with the Chicago Sky.
She also has quite a number of endorsement and partnership deals, which Cam’ron thinks will be necessary for her to pay attention to before she goes broke. A very usual phenomenon for most athletes.
