Busta Rhymes, whose real name is Trevor Smith, Jr., began his weight-loss journey in 2019 and made headlines due to the drastic change in stature.

Some fans were concerned about him and even compared him to the late Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman, with some noting: “Let’s Not Do What We Did to Chadwick to Busta.”

Could it be that Busta Rhymes’ decision to get in shape was a wise one?

That wouldn’t be too far from reality, since the legendary rapper has been booked to star in the reboot of Naked Gun.

His breakthrough performance on the Tribe Called Quest posse cut, Scenario may be the cause of this move.

Along with Busta Rhymes, the newest WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes, Liza Koshy, and CCH Pounder will also be joining the cast.

There will be appearances by Liam Neeson, Danny Huston, Paul Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand, and Pamela Anderson as well.

Although their specific roles are still unknown, Rhodes is rumored to be making a cameo.

Neeson, on the other hand, is slated to portray Detective Frank Drebin, while Hauser plays Ed, his colleague.

Although Busta’s precise role in this 1988 comedy classic has not yet been revealed, he will be performing with a star-studded ensemble of veteran actors.

For Busta, Naked Gun will be his first movie in almost ten years.

His last on-screen appearance was in Nick Cannon’s musical drama, King of the Dancehall (2016).

Since then, Busta’s career has been limited to appearances on talk shows and sporadic roles as himself on programs like Master of None and Fresh Off the Boat.

July 18, 2025, is the scheduled release date of Naked Gun.
