Singer Brandy is working on her debut memoir to be released later this year, sources close to the songwriter have said.

The title of the project has not been disclosed, but reports indicate that it will focus on the life story of the Afrodisiac star.

It will touch on the early days in Mississippi to her rise and influence on the music scene, which began with her platinum-selling debut album, Brandy, released at age 15.

A statement available to some outlets describes the memoir as “a testament to hope, resilience, and the strength needed to make peace with the past.”

Sources say it will also recount Brandy’s history-making turn as the first Black actress to portray a Disney princess in the 1997 television adaptation of Cinderella.

Other themes of the publication include Brandy’s struggles with body image, bullying, love, heartbreak, and the pressures of child stardom.

“This memoir is the result of countless hours of reflection, work, and healing. I hope readers will find comfort and inspiration in these pages,” Brandy said about the project.

The memoir, to be released in October 2025, she added, would inspire fans and share “a raw and reflective account of her life.”

In July 2024, Brandy said she would start working with former singing partner Monica. This was after they both helped Ariana Grande with the reimagined version of their popular song, The Boy Is Mine.

“I hit [Monica] up so much talking about all the things that we could do together—tour, residency, everything. I want that. Monica, I really want that,” Brandy stated in an interview.

“The energy between me and Monica was so beautiful. I loved working with her this time. It was so great for [Ariana] to call us up to be a part of it.

“…She didn’t take anything from the original. She created a whole new song, so to call us and pay homage in that way was just such a blessing,” Brandy noted at the time.
