Ghanaian Afrobeats star, Black Sherif, in his short time on the music scene, has swept many off their feet both locally and internationally with hits like Kweku Frimpong and The Villain I Never Was.

The 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Artiste of the Year winner made history by becoming the second Ghanaian to win the BET Hip Hop Award for ‘Best International Flow.’

The Ghanaian artiste, born Mohammed Ismail Sherif, was awarded ‘Best International Flow’ at the 2023 Hip Hop Awards hosted in Atlanta, USA. The award show was recorded on Tuesday and will be broadcast on October 10, 2023.

The 21-year-old emerged victorious in the International Flow category, beating eight other competitors, including Central Cee, Gazo, J Hus, and AKA. He is the second Ghanaian to win this category after Sarkodie’s win in 2019. Black Sherif gracefully walked up to the stage to accept his award while his popular song, Kwaku the Traveller, played in the background.

In 2022, Black Sherif was nominated for the ‘Best International Flow’ category at the BET Hip-Hop Awards. The other nominees in this category were Benjamin Epps from France, Central Cee from the UK, Blxckie from South Africa, Haviah Mighty from Canada, Knucks from the UK, Le Juiice from France, Nadia Nakai from Zimbabwe, and Tasha & Tracie from Brazil. Benjamin Epps was announced the winner in 2022.

The First Sermon crooner recently released two singles off his Take Care of Yourself Blacko project. The project features two tracks, Yaya and Simmer Down, co-produced by Joker Nharnah and Samsney.

Black Sherif’s Kwaku the Traveller was well-received globally. The song earned the Soja hitmaker a spot on the Billboard Top Triller Global Chart, securing the 12th position in February 2022.

The catchy tune features Black Sherif’s signature storytelling style, where he paints vivid pictures of life’s struggles and triumphs.

Overall, Black Sherif continues to prove himself as a rising star in the world of music and his latest releases are a testament to his talent and creativity.
