The long-standing No.1 song on Billboard US Afrobeats chart, Calm Down, the viral song by Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Rema and US star Selena Gomez has been overthrown.
In a new development, the fast-rising song, Water by burgeoning South African singer and dancer, Tyla has taken pole position on the coveted chart.
Calm Down, for months on end, was the most streamed Afrobeats song and went on to set a record of being the most streamed Afrobeats song in history.
The hot tune has garnered over 673,000,000+ views on video-sharing website YouTube alone.
Billboard’s chart for this week sees Water rushing to the top of the table after it debuted at No.67 on Billboard’s Hot 100 only last week.
“Tyla debuts at number 67 on this week’s Hot 100. It is her first career entry on the chart,” US music and entertainment magazine Billboard, said last Monday.
The 21-year-old’s popular song took the enviable No.2 spot on the Afrobeats chart in the US, playing second fiddle to Rema and Selena Gomez’s Calm Down.
