Influential Ghanaian performer Black Sherif released a new single titled Oh No, in the first week of November, following the success of his debut album, The Villain I Never Was.

The latest production, just like other previous compositions like Soja, continues to enjoy some good playbacks on streaming platforms and attention from staunch followers of Blacko.

Oh No entered the US Afrobeats Billboard Chart shortly after it was released and continues to be on an upward trajectory, currently sitting at No. 41 as of November 24, 2023.

The Hip-Hop project has also recorded an appreciable number of streams, reaching about three million playbacks and over 300,000 streams on Audiomack (Africa) and YouTube respectively.

Characteristically, Kweku The Traveller crooner adopted an energetic flow on the Hip-Hop tune while reflecting on a myriad of themes in the rhythm. Born Mohammed Ismail Sherif, the award-winning act describes Oh No, as a reaffirmation to his “destiny and my calling.”

“It’s me defining who I am, what I have believed in and basking in the work I have put in thus far. Oh No is for everyone continuously trying, defying the odds each time they decide not to give up, he says.

Black Sherif chooses to live his life “devoid of any fear of falling in the open pit” in front of him. “There are voices around and within; pushing me. Either to direct my next step away from the pit or have me fall into this deep abyss,” he explains.

The First Sermon crooner blends his native language and English in the low-tempo rendition. Oh No was released on the back of his Take Care of Yourself Blacko project, which has two tracks: Yaya and Simmer Down.

Black Sherif made history in October when he became the second Ghanaian, after Sarkodie, to win the BET Hip Hop Award for ‘Best International Flow at the 2023 Hip Hop Awards hosted in Atlanta, USA.

In spite of the steady climb of the new single on the music charts, it is still early days yet to determine the overall successes Oh No could attain in the final lap of 2023 and beyond.
