Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, the notorious leader of the Black Mafia Family (BMF), might be released from prison way sooner than expected per a new development in his case.

The Detroit News has reported that the BMF co-founder could be out of prison by 2025, three years before his latest reduced sentencing of 20 years. He was initially handed a 30-year sentence back in 2008.

The former crime boss’ attorney, Brittany K. Barnett, was able to have 32 months trimmed off his punishment thanks to Amendment 821 of the United States Criminal Code, which retroactively applies the Fair Sentencing Act of 2010 to crack cocaine offenders. The amendment also emphasized his rehabilitation after he was found guilty of large-scale drug trafficking and money laundering.

Barnett filed an early release petition on behalf of Flenory last month, claiming that he could be released earlier than initially intended per new sentencing guidelines, especially since he is no longer a threat to society.

“Mr. Flenory has accepted full responsibility for his actions and has used his time in prison to better himself and others,” Barnett wrote in the petition. “He has participated in numerous educational and vocational programs, as well as mentoring and counseling services. He has also maintained a positive relationship with his family and friends, who are eager to support him upon his release.”

Thrilled about the update, Flenory’s son Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr., who is set to portray his father in the upcoming Starz series “Black Mafia Family” produced by 50 Cent, took to his Instagram Stories and reshared posts about the news soon after it began circulating online.

“God is good,” Lil Meech wrote in one of his posts, along with a praying hands emoji.

The BMF was one of the most influential and powerful criminal organizations in the United States, operating in several states and generating millions of dollars from drug sales and other illicit activities. The group was also known for its lavish lifestyle and connections to the hip-hop industry, including artists like Jeezy, Fabolous, and Rick Ross.

Flenory and his brother Terry “Southwest T” Flenory were arrested in 2005 and pleaded guilty to running a continuing criminal enterprise in 2007. They were both sentenced to 30 years in prison in 2008, but their sentences were later reduced to 20 years in 2015 after they cooperated with the authorities.
