Tina Knowles, the mother of global superstar Beyoncé, is finalizing her divorce from actor Richard Lawson with a significant payout.
According to a report by PEOPLE, Knowles, who filed for divorce last year, has agreed to pay Lawson $300,000 as part of their settlement. The couple, who tied the knot in 2015, are parting ways after eight years of marriage.
The financial arrangement appears to be the centerpiece of their settlement, as neither party will receive spousal support.
The agreement reflects Knowles’ earlier request to the court, where she sought to prevent Lawson from pursuing financial support after the divorce. Additionally, the settlement includes a non-disparagement clause, ensuring that neither Knowles nor Lawson can publicly speak ill of each other, their children, or their children’s spouses.
The divorce marks the end of Knowles’ second marriage. She and Lawson, an accomplished actor known for his roles in television and film, had no children together. When Knowles filed for divorce in July 2023, she cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. At the time, she also requested that the court restore her legal name to Celestine Knowles, a name she had changed to Celestine Lawson upon marrying Richard.
Despite their separation, both parties seem intent on moving forward amicably, with the settlement’s terms carefully crafted to protect their reputations and relationships with their families.
