Beyoncé’s BeyGood Foundation has committed to supporting families affected by the California wildfires.
On January 12, the Foundation announced it pledged $2.5 million to the Los Angeles Fire Relief Fund, which is aimed at helping affected residents.
The donation, according to the organization, is for people in Altadena and Pasadena who have lost their homes. It also includes churches and community centers.
“Los Angeles we stand with you…BeyGOOD is taking action by announcing the LA Fire Relief Fund with a donation of 2.5 million dollars.
“The fund is earmarked to aid families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who lost their homes, and to churches and community centers to address the immediate needs of those affected by the wildfires,” The foundation said in an Instagram post.
The Beyoncé Foundation donation comes after her mother, Tina Knowles, and many of her fellow musicians and other industry players lost their homes in the fires.
Apart from Tina Knowles, other celebrities affected include Jhené Aiko, Mandy Moore, Paris Hilton, Diane Warren, and Miley Cyrus.
Beyonce’s mother recently told followers on Instagram on January 9, that her oceanfront Malibu bungalow was razed down by the blaze.
She described the residence as her “favorite place” and “sanctuary,” where she celebrated her birthday on January 4.
Showing pictures of two dolphins swimming in the ocean, she wrote: “This is what I was looking at on my birthday this past weekend from my tiny little bungalow on the water in Malibu…
“Now it is gone! God bless all the brave men and women in our fire department who risked their lives in dangerous conditions,” the 71-year-old wrote.
“We thank you for your dedication and bravery and for saving so many lives. This could have been so much worse without the dedication of the disaster workers and first responders,” she added.
Tina Knowles extended sympathy and support to people who had lost family members or their homes and belongings to the fire.
“I can only imagine how it feels to lose properties and everything you own! My heart and deep prayers go out to all of you. I cannot imagine the pain and suffering and fear that you are enduring.”
“I am praying diligently for our beautiful City of Los Angeles !! We are resilient, though, and we will recover! ‘This too shall pass,” she added.
