Winning the Grammys is a big plus for artistes around the world, but with about four days until the 66th Grammys, have you wondered what your favourite artiste will do if he or she wins?
Well, sensational performer Ayra Starr, is daydreaming about how she will walk up the stage to grab her award, the dress to wear, and what to eat at her favourite Chinese restaurant.
She spoke in an interview on Cool FM when asked what she would do if she won the award and this is what she had to say:
“There’s this Chinese restaurant I like to go to…once I win, I’ll just go there, sit down well, breathe in and out, and eat…and then video call my mom.
“I have my speech and everything already done. My speech is quite long because it’s the first African category, so it is [the speech] is quite long,” she said.
The Sability hitmaker, however, said she would still reserve her speech for next year, even if she did not win this year.
“I already know how I’ll walk, my outfit…I’ve practised everything. I know I’m going to win but If don’t win, I already have the speech for next year, my outfit for next year, and even the day after, I know what I’m going to wear…I know how I’m going to look,” she added jokingly.
Rush by Ayra Starr is competing in the Best African Performance category at the 66th Grammys, which comes off this weekend, February 4, 2024.
Other contenders, Burna Boy, Davido, Asake, and Tyla, are all looking up to the ceremony on Sunday so they can make history for themselves and Africa at large.
Ayra Starr has performed remarkably in the year under review, and it’ll not be surprising if she takes home the ultimate prize.
Early in January, she put out a teaser for her next project, titled Commas, in a video on her X (Twitter) page. She has hinted the song will be out soon, and fans are already in love with parts of the recording available online.
The year 2023 was more or less one of her progress years, as she dropped back-to-back hits, performed at top concerts, and gained recognition worldwide.
She was part of Afrobeats talents like Adekunle Gold, Asake, Burna Boy and Davido, who have all been nominated in the Best African Act category. at the Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards scheduled to take place, also in February, at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield, UK.
