A childhood photograph posted by singer and pianist, Alicia Keys, on Thursday drew mixed reactions from her followers, with some admiring the cordiality between the singer and her mother.

The Girl on Fire hitmaker posted the picture on her X (Twitter) timeline with a short caption to commemorate her mother’s birthday. The image captured young Alicia and her mother beaming at each other with the caption “forever the two of us.”

“Happy birthday to my mama…There’s nothing like this love here. Forever the two of us…I love you so deeply! The 43-year-old wrote.

One of her of fans replied with the comment: “So much respect for your mama and the story of the two of you. I saw Hell’s Kitchen last night and got ready for many Tony’s! Your cast was amazing! Your story is simply beautiful…Tough love is love!

“Mutual love is the most beautiful thing…Beautiful Love between a mother and daughter is nothing like no other,” another added.

The appreciation post for her mother came days after the award-winning RnB star received 13 Tony Award nominations for her Broadway musical, Hell’s Kitchen.

The semi-autobiographical, is said to be inspired by Alicia Keys’ own life growing up as an aspiring artist in Hell’s Kitchen and the community she built up in the New York neighborhood.

The production, put together over 13 years, has her uplifting singles Girl On Fire, Empire State of Mind, and a new song written for the musical called, Kaleidoscope.

It tells the story of a 17-year-old (Ali) trying to find her place in the world and break free from her overprotective single mother. When she met her neighbor, a mentorship is formed and she begins to learn about the power of the piano, her dreams begin to shift and evolve.

Recently, Alicia Keys, with support from her record label, Roc Nation, donated $60,000 to a GoFundMe set up to preserve the theatre department at her alma mater, the Professional Performing Arts School (PPAS) in New York City. Her contribution was to enable the fundraiser to reach its $102,000 target.
