A+: Can you tell us about your journey as an artiste and what led you to pursue a music career?
1UCID: “My journey as an artist has been both enjoyable and educational. Improving my craft has been rewarding, but marketing and gaining exposure for my music has been a rollercoaster. Despite the challenges, the joy of creating keeps me motivated. I was drawn to music because of its unique ability to connect with people on a deeper level, conveying emotions that words alone cannot. The idea of creating something that brings people together is incredibly fulfilling, and this passion for music’s universal language inspired me to pursue a career as an artiste.

A+: Congratulations on your soon-to-be-released song, OOUI. Can you share with us the inspiration behind the song and what it means to you personally?
1UCID: The inspiration for OOUI came from imagining my future partner feeling overwhelmed by work and life’s stresses. She asks me to escape on a romantic vacation, and because I’m deeply invested in her, I eagerly agree, offering options like Mozambique, Medellin, Paris, and Italy. The song reflects my desire to create moments of joy and escape for the ones I love.
A+: What was your creative process like for this single? Did you collaborate with other musicians or producers?
1UCID: Creating OOUI was a collaborative and seamless process. I went to my producer, Obanga, with the idea and concept for the hook in my head. He crafted the beat right then and there. We then brought in his sister, Nikki, to create the background vocals. I recorded my verse, and my producer cousin added the intro. Everything came together naturally.
A+: What message or emotions do you hope your listeners will take away from your music, particularly from this single?
1UCID: With my new single OOUI, I hope listeners experience a sense of global unity and romance. I want them to be inspired by the diverse musical elements and the celebration of love that transcends borders. My goal is to evoke feelings of joy, adventure, and connection through the blend of multicultural beats and heartfelt lyrics, and to encourage listeners to travel with their loved ones to create lasting memories.
A+: As an emerging artiste, what challenges have you faced in the music industry, and how have you overcome them?
1UCID: As an emerging artist, one of the biggest challenges has been gaining visibility and building a fan base in a crowded industry. I’ve overcome this through relentless self-promotion, networking, and leveraging social media to connect with listeners. I also focus on creating unique, high-quality, meaningful, and fun music that stands out.
A+: What has been the most memorable or rewarding experience for you so far in your music career?
1UCID: The most rewarding experience has been seeing my family, especially my daughter, singing, enjoying, and dancing to my songs.
A+: Are there any specific themes or topics that you enjoy exploring through your music?
1UCID: I enjoy exploring themes of love, diversity, and adventure in my music. I find it fulfilling to blend different cultural elements and express universal themes through various musical styles.
A+: What are your future aspirations and goals as an artiste? Do you have any upcoming projects or collaborations that you’re excited about?
1UCID: I aim to expand my reach, collaborate with diverse artists, and work on new projects, including possibly earning a Grammy soon. While I don’t have any upcoming collaborations at the moment, I am gearing up to release three albums in due time.
A+: What advice would you give to other emerging artistes who are just starting their musical journey?
1UCID: My advice is to stay true to your unique voice, be patient, and network with others in the industry.
A+: How do you stay motivated and inspired to continue creating music, especially during challenging times?
1UCID: I stay inspired by exploring different music styles and setting small goals. Reminding myself of my passion and surrounding myself with positive individuals helps during tough times.
