Afrobeats talent Adekunle Gold has updated his discography with a new Afrosound titled Rodo, which arrived early on Friday, April 26.
The new release, currently sinking in with the audience, is registered to Def Jam Recordings, a division of UMG Recording IC. Albeit a solo record, part of the mixing and production work was done by Adekunle’s wife, Simi who is also a singer.
Rodo has not gained lots of reviews yet but has all the elements of an African music production as it touches the roots of pure indigenous sounds and employs a lot of the singer’s native language.
The latest song would be Adekunle’s third publication for the year 2024. It arrived months after he dropped the rendition called the Life I Chose, sometime in February this year.
It would be recalled that the singer-songwriter put on a show at the OVO Arena in London in March, this year with his wife, Simi, as a special guest.
This was after the couple shared glowing pictures for the love-inspired rhythm Look What You Made Me Do to mark their fifth marriage anniversary. It gathered over 100,000 playbacks on Audiomack alone and is one of the tracks from Adekunle Gold’s fifth studio album, Tequila Ever After.
Apart from the pictures circulated on Facebook, the Afrobeats singer and his partner were seen in a short Instagram reel with the caption: “Sharing, loving, laughing, giving, taking, and choosing each other everyday,” as they sang together.
Adekunle Gold gained attention after releasing the 2015 hit single Sade, a high-life cover of One Direction’s Story of My Life.
He signed a record deal with YBNL Nation and released his 2015 debut studio album Gold, which debuted at number 7 on the Billboard World Albums chart.
