Russell Simmons, who currently stays in Bali, Indonesia, has not made many public remarks since he was charged with sexual assault and other offenses while he was an executive at Def Jam Records.

However, last week, he took to social media and defended Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is also accused of numerous sexual assaults, encouraging his followers to “see the good in things.”

Russell Simmons, 66, revealed that there have always been disputes in the rap industry, but he compared the conflicts to professional wrestling.

However, Simmons also discussed his thoughts on the current rap feud, pointing out that, although thrilling, how Drake and Kendrick Lamar are pursuing each other may eventually result in gunplay.

“Try not to get too excited when you pull someone down or witness someone pull someone down. Simmons admitted that some people found it entertaining to watch, but he cautioned that the cycle isn’t eternally healthy.

“If I had a nickel for every insulting meme sent to me by people whose lives Sean Combs improved and built, it’s like, it seems a bit hypocritical since the only reason you have a life is because you worked for him, or he gave you a job or lifted you up somehow,” he continued.

Simmons’ main takeaway was that, as a result of the ongoing controversy surrounding the legal dispute and Diddy’s fallout, fans were now more concerned with the entertainment industry’s demise than their personal growth.

“You could find it amusing, you know. I believe there are some humorous memes. But we must raise our gaze and educate our thoughts to focus on the positive rather than the negative in everything”, Simmons said.

Russell Simmons is receiving a lot of backlash on X from fans for standing up for Diddy and discussing the recent rap beef when he has a ton of legal matters to attend to on his own, all of which the mogul has adamantly disputed.
